Awesome way to reduce bottles in our landfills and dumps. Thanks, this is why I am looking to do this, along with the convenience and the benefits to my new plants, thank you! Grand work
I'm not as impressed by the watering system as I am by the pots. That's genius, couple strips of cheap underlay and way to go. You just saved me hundreds of dollars in starter pots!
Iam from India at kerala this ideas we are using many early years above we are using not plastic bottles using clays crockery
I think of you drilled the holes lower and buried the bottles deeper you might be able to get your plants to transition to dry farming, great idea!
I remember using this technique back in the early 1970s in New Zealand. Seemed to work well (only used it during a drought).
Amazing video, a quick question. Why did you drill some inches above the the bottom of the bottle instead of doing it right at the bottom of the bottles? My reason being, what happens to the water that is in the bottle below the holes?
I tried this once and it worked well but I got sick and tired of filling the bottles with water. Also, in hot sunny areas the bottles have to be dug deep beneath the soil with just the tops sticking out of the soil because the sun can and does make the water very hot.
