Planting tulip bulbs on October the 24th in Flevoland. We see specialist tulip growing company Pronk Tulpen in action with their John Deere team.
The farmer is ploughing wheat stubble with his Fendt 714 Vario and a four furrow Kverneland reversible plough. A seedbed is then prepared using a John Deere 6920 and AVR GE-Force hook tine cultivator. The tulip bulbs are planted using a modified John Deere 8300T crawler tractor with a front loader, hopper and Agrifirm net planter. The bulbs are squashed in between two nets and laid in the ground before being covered with soil. The crop grows in between two nets and will be lifted in June/July. Because they are grown in netting they are lifted with a lot less soil.
