The Dutch farmers' protests (Dutch: boerenprotesten) are a series of broader demonstrations of Dutch livestock farmers blocking roads with tractors and occupying public spaces.
Protests were first triggered in October 2019 by a parliamentary proposal to halve livestock farming in an attempt to limit consent in the Netherlands,
but protesting farmers frequently they often told the media that they were hiding motivated by a perceived disrespect for the Dutch public and the professions by the media and employees.
The protests were brought together for several actions and the larger goal of less government regulation for farmers, more room for pro-farmer sentiment, and more policies to punish Shell and Tata Steel for their roles in emissions.
Public understanding of farmers as capable of providing conflict remained high, but actual support began to weaken towards the end of 2019
