Sorry if this is a stupid question, but you measured the log width and marked on the ends.
What did you mark? Impressive work with the saw.
I have never seen anyone operate the saw so effortlessly. I bet the saw has been a bit heavy so far, well done sir! It's great to watch her cut. Be safe, God Bless!
I'm getting the idea that this guy is a pro and has done this sort of thing a few times.
His choice of first cuts is admirable because it first reduces the tension that would otherwise grip and hold the bar, creating safe cuts.
I've run several 372xp and 572xp chainsaws and have always been impressed with their performance with a sharp chain.
I've owned 575xp for about 10 years. It weighs 17 lbs. Without bar and chain . You forget that very quickly when cutting. These professional grade saws are brutal.
I mostly cut soft maple oak and beech . I'm sick and tired of working my ass with a 50cc chainsaw. Mine is 75cc, makes 5.5 HP at 9,600 rpm. It works with 50:1 kerosene. If you cut a lot of Medium or large logs, you get a real saw. You will not regret it .
here in the western US my typical bar length is 28 inches, so I keep this on my saw unless I know I'm getting into a very large board.
I've noticed that you euro cutters all use very short sticks, even though the longer length would make your life easier. why is this? By the way, very nice work, saw rips.
