Most of the road trains in the video transport high-quality iron ore from small mines to Port Hedland for loading onto bulk carriers. These mines are too small to have a private railway line. BHP and FMG also use the port facility and have much larger mines serviced by heavy rail. Road trains use closed side dump trailers and the controls are in the cab of the truck. I took the video last week (August 2015) and despite the drop in iron ore prices, production looks as busy as ever. Gold and nickel mining still strong
Ahhh, the sound of a powerful, well-tuned diesel engine, the turbo whistle, the escaping air pressure is music to any trucker's ear. Nice video mate. From a trucker in remote Kenya, continue Trucking.
I envy you super truckers, I wish I had the courage to move to my aunts' farm, where I envied you years ago. May be closed Must be closed! Well done you Australian truckers real truckers.
When I was a pincer (13) in 1979 I was taken on an Australian vacation with my grandparents, I am a Brit BTW. From Melbourne we went east, eventually by bus to Cairns. Best vacation of my life, unbeatable. While exploring the bushes around the last hotel we stayed at for the night, I remember first hearing and then seeing a train pass. I was totally inspired and couldn't believe it, what a souvenir!
