Comments: - - 1:10 Tail number indicates that it was built in 1960, It's crazy to think that particular airframe is 62 years old! (For those who don't know, all US Airforce aircraft have the last 2 digits of the year of their construction written on the tail, usually the smallest 2 numbers. US Navy and USMC aircraft do not follow this convention).
Absolute beast. Very, very strong aircraft that leaves me in awe. Seeing it and hearing It almost makes me feel similar to when Vulcan flew overhead all those years ago. The vulcan was better sounding and made the hairs at the back of your neck stand up
I was there in the late 90s, at the time there were B-1s and B-52s based there for a few weeks at a time. Amazing aircraft given its age, but it always made me nervous due to its role and age. Amazing to see these ‘crab’ when landing in high winds
I was an ammo troop at MacDill AFB in the summer of 1983 when 4 BUFFs spent a week there training with our F-16s as fighter escorts. Two flights each per day with two ride-along seats available. I got lucky (twice that summer actually with a 10hr ride-along on a Pennsy Air Guard KC-135...my noseprint is probably still on the windows...best part!, either laying on the couch next to the boomer as we refueled 22 aircraft that day [F-4s, -15s, 16s, a C-141 and a C-5] or sitting in the center jumpseat for a sunset landing over Tampa Bay!!! But I digress).
What's not to love with a BUF, spent summers in Dayton Ohio with my aunt and watched these beasts flying SAC out of Wright Pat, they would shake the house taking off with a full load, thanks
