Last week was awards season at the Agritechnica Show in Hannover, Germany.
Besides product launches, there were also award ceremonies that would make the Oscars run for their money.
The big winner was AGCO, who came from Hannover with some key headlines that will grace their ad campaigns for the next few years.
A jury of journalists from 23 European countries awarded the awards in a special ceremony, including the powerful Fendt 1050 Vario Tractor of the Year 2016.
A new award this year, the 2016 Tractor of the Year Best Utility, was awarded to AGCO's fellow Massey Ferguson 5713 SL.
For the Design 2016 award, the Golden Tractor went to the stunning Valtra N 174 V.
The jury awarded the 517 horsepower Fendt 1050 Vario the overall title of Tractor of the Year 2016 and stated that it is the most powerful standard tractor in the world.
The 1000 Series Fendt occupies a new power segment, meeting the demand for more powerful than ever standard tractors that are maneuverable and versatile.
The jury also praised the innovative VarioDrive system, which provides independent hydraulic drive to the front and rear axles.
They noted that this offers a driving experience very similar to the most sophisticated cars.
Fendt VarioDrive has already received another award. Agritechnica Innovations of the German Agricultural Association (DLG) was awarded the Silver Medal in 2015.
The innovative powertrain constantly compares and adjusts the speeds of the front and rear axles, thus eliminating any excessive wheel slip and avoiding torsional effects in the powertrain in any case.
'Pull-in-Turn' is a feature that reduces the turning circle. As ground speed increases, the system disconnects the front axle hydromotor to increase efficiency.
