As most of the country woke up to the first snow of the year this morning, we thought this would be an appropriate video to share. Take a look at this compilation of huge snowplow trains speeding through fluffy white goods to make sure the tracks are safe for travel.
While there is no information on the whereabouts of any of these trains, you can still enjoy great footage of these plow trains sending huge snow clouds as they do their work, creating some stellar views and photo opportunities. These massive machines come in all shapes, sizes and designs; some use brute force to plow the snow, some use a blower style attachment and others use rotary fan style snow throwers. Whatever the style, they all get the job done and unload railroads so rail operators can maintain tight schedules and keep things running smoothly.
The guys at Spyker RC designed this snow blower attachment for radio-controlled off-road vehicles – in this case the Kyoshso Blizzard Snow Cat – and thanks to 3D printing, they were able to take on the task of building it themselves. RCSparks Studio was one of the first to have the chance to screw on the snowblower and give it a shovel test, and it works pretty well!
Spinning the blades like a full-size blower, the RC version kicks the snow out of the canal and opens a path for the Snow Cat, just as you'd expect. I can't believe there isn't a daredevil somewhere in Minnesota who orders one of them to tour the neighborhood and clean sidewalks and driveways for a reasonable fee, plus he's going to have some fun with his RC. !
