Late 70's in Atwater CA you could stand outside the fence; incoming landing strip. Their size shakes your body. We stared into the landing gear and would be high from sight and sound. Nothing has rivaled this run with them
It's like a stuffed Turkey that somehow is able to fly. Full butterball status! Every time I see one in flight it's just mind blowing. Behemoth is a massive understatement!
A marvelous piece of machinery. Imagine I was in my twenties when they first flew, now I’m 83 and they are still around and will be when I’m long gone. Nice video thank you.
Hotdamn!! A truly brilliant weapon! What I don't get is this: with such shit-kicking capability at their disposal, how come they couldn't win any war since Vietnam?
During the war in Iraq, in 2003, we saw these B52s pass, by 3 or 4, at midday, in the North of France. They had taken off from Great Britain.
And, during the night, we heard them coming back to land in the UK, having dropped their bombs.
It was quite impressive to see (because they had not yet reached their cruising altitude), these 6-engine planes, stuffed with bombs.
The B52H Stratofortress is a beautiful bomber, I want it to remain operational for many more decades, and never need to be replaced from the b21 raider.
