CH-47 Chinook is a twin-engine heavy-duty helicopter that is produced by Boeing company and, unlike other helicopter types, has a succession of twin rotors. Its maximum speed per hour is 315 km/h. Its main task is to transport troops, artillery units and ammunition.
It is used by 16 countries, mostly by the United States Army (US Army) and the Royal Air Force (RAF). It has recently joined the Turkish Armed Forces. This helicopter can carry 60 personnel at a time and can lift and tow an F-16 fighter jet.
Chinook, a Boeing production, is a multi-purpose helicopter with 2 tandem rotors. Chinooks, whose main production purpose is to lift heavy loads, are also used for troop deployment and search and rescue purposes. The two tandem engines not only provide a large volume to the helicopter, but also greatly increase the helicopter's capabilities in lifting loads. Conventional single-rotor helicopters can only lift one load with cables extended just below the main rotor. This is because the helicopter's center of gravity is exactly where the rotor is. In this type of helicopter, it is impossible to carry two loads from separate points, because in this case, the balance of the helicopter will be disturbed and the helicopter may overturn. With its unique design, the Chinook can carry two loads, one under each rotor.
