A Unique Selection of the World's Largest Excavators. Great equipment involved in career development. The selection of the world's biggest crazy excavator. 1. Bucyrus RH400. 2. Hitachi EX8000-6. 3. Liebherr R9800. 4. Demag H740. 5. Komatsu PC8000-6
Most of the extreme machines on our list have spent time in the mines, but only Bucyrus RH400 did a cameo in a Michael Bay movie. The world's largest hydraulic shovel inspired the vehicle form of Decepticon Demolishor in the 2009 movie Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen.
When the RH400 is not visible on the silver screen, it can be found in Canadian petroleum sands in Alberta, where this three-story high giant set a production record by digging 9000 tons of soil in 1 hour. RH400's ladle can hold up to 94 tons or 57 cubic yards in its bucket; this has what Bucyrus calls a bottom-opening flap design to unload its load quicker. Two 16-cylinder engines together produce 4400 hp, drive the RH400 and 14 hydraulic pumps that hold enough 3400 gallons of fluid to fill a small backyard pond.
With a $ 11 million price tag, it's best to leave the RH400 as short a downtime as possible when working in a mine or petroleum sands. The Bucyrus adds a separate room at the back of the cabinet that can be equipped with a refrigerator and microwave, making it easier for the driver to work continuously.
