I was around these planes 1970/71 ...huge beast ... very adjustable for sure ... from Chaff to Rocket assist take offs ... they can land on short runway or unimproved runway ... very handy in a war ... this C-130 and all it's improvements over the years ... USAF here 68/71
I love the wrong bit where she says the rotary guns on the Spooky are the same as the Warthog One is an Avenger cannon of 30mm, the other is a Vulcan of 20 mm , and that version is now retired.
I grew up five miles from Myrtle Beach AFB, the first home of the A-10. The squadron commander and several of the team were military test pilots when Fairchild handed the A-10 over to USAF in the beginning. I knew several of them socially and talked with them many times about their plane, which they really loved flying. Although the A-10 had not yet been battle tested, they told me what the plane would do when the time came. The squadron was transferred to Shaw AFB in Sumter SC before Desert Storm so, unfortunately, I never got to hear first accounts in private. However, those guys made good on their promises regarding the A-10...and then some. It warms my heart to see the decidedly non-stealthy Warthog still getting the job done.
We have some sweet Fighter Jets. It must be a Rush to fly one, after being trained of course. I'd probably accidentally run one into a tree without training. That's while still on the ground. Be paying for that dent for years!
