I flew in the C-130 when I was in the Coast Guard band and they used to fly us around to parades and civic events. It is an awesome plane and it's got a lot of room. If that thing was coming down at me shooting 3000 rounds per minute I sure as hell ain't gonna' stick my head up to look at it. Once the f15's and 16s take care of the high flyers the A-10s can move in to first hit the defensive air systems and then convoys or single targets.
I think their biggest mistake was the Republic of Korea Air Force's rejection of the A-10. because in the 1990s, the US Air Force and the Republic of Korea Air Force were convinced that the A-10 would soon be retired. However, the US Air Force still seems to be convinced that the A-10 is needed. But the Republic of Korea Air Force is already late. They cannot change their decision again. Now Korea has to develop a new air-to-ground platform. For a very powerful CAS.
How much value would there be to take a V-22 or V-280 and convert it to a AV-22 or AV-280 just like the UH-1 was converted yo the AH-1. That may create a replacement for the A-10.
That's something the Marine corps needs and it needs to be able to launch stuff carrier the Marines needed more than the Air Force does they're the hand me down Force anyway
