PGVM recently took delivery of a brand new closed 6 car carrier. The Kassbohrer is a completely different design from the permeable trailers that PGVM bought from Rolfo.
The reason for the change is that there is no 'perfect' trailer available, meaning having trailers of different manufactures and capabilities makes the fleet more versatile for the ever-changing automotive industry.
One of the most important features of the Kassbohrer is the lengthening of the rear, which is extremely useful in modern cars that are getting bigger with each passing year. Also, as supercars get wider, the lower deck floor rises to push the cars over the trailer's wheel arches. The loading ramp also has extensions to allow extremely low cars to be loaded easily.
The automotive industry is undergoing a radical transformation. The advent of mobility developments such as electric and connected cars has placed the industry on a high-speed highway and propelled it into a complex future.
With increasing customer demands and expectations in terms of configurations and user experience, more parts are entering vehicles than ever before. Therefore, as a component manufacturer, you are faced with the need to manufacture more components than the OEMs themselves.
It's one thing to produce auto parts, it's another to deliver them on time to your world markets. Rising political unrest, the recent coronavirus outbreak, rising protectionism and tariffs are possible road bumps on this journey.
