This is rather embarrassing as the firemen should have known that oil floats on water and so when water entered the tank the surface of the burning
oil rose and overflowed out to aid to cause all that.
I cannot understand why the firemen did not know that you do not try to stop a fire in a tank by using water.
This happens often with people who do not know that the density of oil is lighter than that of water and so water will always be on top.
One need to use suffocation through foam and appropriate methods for oil fires.
Once I saw firemen trying to put out an oil fire emerging from the top aperture of a bowser and when the water in the tank settled at the bottom the oil rose and the fire started spreading and was no longer limited to the aperture at the top of the bowser.
Firefighting even in a kitchen even tackling a frying pan on fire needs know how and calmness as otherwise what could be a simple problem to solve turns out to be a catastrophe.
