Dutch machinery manufacturer Ploeger has revealed a new self-propelled merger. A number of these machines have been built and are now being put through their paces.
The machine is equipped with a pick-up reel and belt- conveyors to gather and shift grass with a working width from 10m to 12m and with a maximum speed of 20km/h/ The CM4240 is powered by an 260 HP FPT engine. The cab is from the German manufacturer Claas.
com: Femante: Next time I get annoyed with the burdens of modern life, I'll remember what human life would be if these machines didn't exist to do the work for us
Com: Branon: Another million dollar machine that is parked for 51 weeks outta the year... Hard to justify that kinda cash on a machine that only does one thing. Especially when that one thing is raking. Other then that it's super cool
Com: James: It’s a great video, but I’m struggling to see how anyone could justify the cost. It’s 280 hp. I’m guessing that it’s no cheaper than buying a 280 hp tractor and a large conventional rake and you could use the tractor 365 days a year for whatever else you needed.
This has a, maybe, 4 month use window doing solely one job. And I’d hate to imagine the resale value given there would be so few users for a machine this size. Love to drive one though!
