COMMENTS: - - The technique was certainly used by the Romans, except that they did not use blocks with pegs and holes. Correctly shaped blocks and mortar are self-supporting in arches. I made a few small ones, you can even use regular bricks.
My career has been concrete, sand, gravel and asphalt. These videos are a funny reminder of why my friends call me Fred Flintstone.
Looks like they're building the World's Largest PIZZA OVEN. I'll be ordering a "meat lovers supreme" right now
What is the purpose of the first building? They obviously build a lot of these, at this point it's not waterproof and it's not huge
I thought the ancient Greeks, or some ancient civilization before that, invented the arch shape of construction and cement. But I could be wrong
Why is there no Mortar, Joint or mastic between the surfaces of the blocks? Is it built-in or is this not a liquid transport system like drainage?
Okay, you buried an arched structure in the ground, and then you built a larger arch above the ground - very nice. However, you do not explain what the practical purpose or end result both structures have as benefits to the construction. Sorry great but a video communication failed.
The truck arch technique is interesting but don't the first set of blocks need to be on some kind of solid foundation rather than just the earth. Some kind of water ingress or induced soil movement and collapse.
