Cuting a notch is important if you put it in the wright side of the tree.
Then go back behind the notch about 1 inch and above the notch about a haulf a inch. Cut the center out so it dont bust and take your head off.
Then cut the back side.
But all ways look at tree befor you start your saw.check for broken branches, old grape vines, and make sure theres is not a cow in the top of the tree.
