In the 1950's and 60's my father did exactly this job at a factory in the UK. Probably the conditions back then were similar to what you see here although these days it's very, very different. I remember that one time there was an accident where one of the billets slipped from the hoist and rolled, breaking my father's leg. He was off work for quite a while but he did get sick-pay as required by law here even then.
These guys are too beasts, with tools let's say, a little obsolete, they make the impossible look easy, congratulations you are wonderful at what you do.
This is where it gets really interesting. Not that the forge and the beginning of the shooting are less so, but this so satisfying moment makes it clear why we came: to see the appearance of the crankshaft. A know-how and experience of craftsmen who impose respect, no other words.
I got the impression that if these guys were given new machines and proper blueprints, they would make a spaceship as well. Definitely a huge like!
