When we first started milling lumber, we thought we'd try a homemade chainsaw mill. It did do the job, we milled up five 8' sections of tree and then built the framework of a 16x16 foot deck with it.
However, as we plan on building a timber frame barn and house, we wanted something that was a little more precise, a little more sturdy (or a lot more sturdy), a little more safe, and a little more professional. Enter the Granberg chainsaw mill.
In this video we'll try out the Granberg mill for the first time.
We will do a lot of chainsaw milling this spring, summer and fall so stay tuned for updates and more technical videos where we'll talk about the best chains, more comparisons to a homemade version, and how to find-tune your mill.
