Truck Trial is a motor sport where the vehicle overcomes natural or artificial obstacles in often extreme terrain. These are most often wild passages through water, mud or overcoming steep hills. They are held approximately six times a year in various locations throughout the Czech Republic. In races, it's not about speed, but above all about the art of riding.
A sufficient number of sections (fenced areas with passage gates) must be prepared for the competition, where crews usually fight against natural or artificial obstacles. Before that, however, they are divided into categories (S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, P1 and P2) according to the number of axles and according to the wheelbase and track width of the vehicle. Only vehicles with a minimum weight of 2.5 tons can compete. Section crossings (passing through gates, time limit, changes of direction, etc.) are evaluated with penalty points. The crew with the smallest number becomes the winner. Competitors must also observe various safety precautions to avoid injury to the crew or spectators. These include, for example, the obligation to fasten with four-point belts.
In April 2020, the first race of the season was canceled due to a ban on events with more than 100 people due to the covid-19 pandemic. After a few years, the new season did not start in Milovice near Nymburk, as was the tradition. A month later, in May 2020, another plant was closed down - Černuc u Velvar. And for the same reason. The third race of the season (unofficial - Mohelnice Grand Prix) was moved to September of the same year. Later, on April 27, the Mohelnice Grand Prix was completely canceled and the date of the 2021 season was announced. The Stráž pod Ralskem was also canceled. New dates were later announced. Four races (Kunštát na Moravě, Jihlava - Pístov, Černuc u Velvar and Milovice u Nymburka) will take place. The plant in Kunštát was accompanied by hygienic measures, including a reduction in the number of visitors. The race in Jihlava and Černuce near Velvar also took place without major problems. Unfortunately, the last race, which was to take place in mid-October in Milovice, was canceled at the end of September due to the ongoing pandemic, and the 2020 season ended prematurely. The 22nd year (ie the 2020 season) was to be, among other things, the season with a special number of races. After several years, their number was increased from 6 to 7 races in one season. Unfortunately, this did not happen due to the covidu-19 pandemic.
