I worked for cat dealers for several years, and I was watching a D11 pushing in a slot. He was pushing 40 yards of material at a time into a hopper for a huge 6 foot wide belt. One time he stopped before he finished his push, and the 40 yards of material was still sitting in the slot. He went back and gathered another 40 yards of material. I thought that I would see the tracks spin when the material he was pushing ran into the material that he had left. Too my amazement, all 80 yards of material went into the hopper. The tracks did not spin. You are right about the fact that the D11 is a BEAST!!! When I was changing the tracks on a D11, I would use my crane to lift the track pad for the alligator link. If I remember correctly, to torque the alligator bolts it was; tighten the bolts to 600 ft/lbs, and then turn it an additional 120 degrees. I did it with a 15 to 1 torque multiplier.
